and the only real solution is to patiently wait for the gurus at adobe to release an update to CS... To re-create the Illustrator preferences files: 1. When you run the installer with Illustrator CS2 already installed, the installer overwrites the existing Illustrator application and adds any missing files. i have no idea why.
I get the error "could not complete the requested operation" on startup and then Illustrator tries to send a crash report.I'm out of town and don't have my original copies of Then save the file (as long as it has it still has the .ai it should then stand a chance of being opened by illustrator). have new insight on this problem; noticed that when i first opened illustratorCS after a clean reboot, it would give me the error we're all familiar with.. But since it did, it must have converted the file to the legacy CS format, which apparently isn't readable in the newer CS2.
