I got an rma from WD, they replaced the drive and the replacement drive is still running in another system years later. Once I got the system running on the new drive, I installed the old drives as seperate drives, and lo and behold, one of the drives started reporting a SMART error.! What does it mean? After installing this and rebooting, I just went in and marked the volumes as normal. this content

And last time windows decided to do a check disk lost me a load of files. Error Occurred (0) Raid 1 with in the "Matrix Storage Controller" I can mark it as a normal drive, but I believe that it just makes it ignore the problem it is finding and just pretends Degraded means you still got enough disks to access all data on the RAID.PS. This fixed the issue for me.

the error occurred why preparing the partition selected for installation. Anyway: I installed the Intel Matrix Storage Manager which IS compatible with my hardware (even though my hardware was very old - from 2004). Years ago when the WD 36gig Raptors first came out, I had two iof them running in a RAID 0 array. On rebooting there was an error shown within my RIAD array showing this. Is the origin of the term "blackleg" racist? The "error occurred(0)" message is seen during startup.
