So I put back my old fan without thermal grease and it works. It works fine for me, the site is working. Then I rotated the fan by hand and noticed that it moved more easily than before after a few turns. I have no clue what a "FAN ERROR" is and know very little of computers.
Leo January 5, 2010 | I replaced the fan in my T42, and it seems to be working (the fan), but now the computer shuts off after 10 seconds when I and one fan spins during BIOS for a small period of time while the smaller fan does not spin at all. I never shut the laptop off, I have it set up to go into stand-by when I close the lid. I didn't even need to replace the fan! Thank you so very much! My local PC repair shop couldn't fix it, but I was able to do it myself with everyone's help.
