If part of the cable is frayed then that be the part that goes to the CD laser but it does not affect the DVD laser. Dhrumil My drive is shown healthy in device manager and it copies till 1.24 GB any data from any of but after that in Windows transfer it shows I/o error and ect. Just check manufacturer's websites (usually in support or download sections).
