I used smooth alpha 4 a month ago and I had no problems. Downloaded and burned using Linux. So I tried to burn ubuntu 8.10 iso on this same CDRW with the wodim -dao option and .... Blk_update_request I/o Error Dev Fd0 At some point, the problem went away at least temporarily, and I think it was after I reset the SELinux context labels on all files.

New PC's do not have read only devices and this also rules out USB Flash drives.
