The Controller card is installed w/ the Ribbon into IDE1 and going directly to the Hard Drive. I supposed that one of these tired relics was dying, and ordered a new WD800BB drive and a shielded ATA cable from New Egg. Not sure if there is a Bios Update. Trying to Install Windows XP: I am getting the Windows Set Up Blue screen w/ the message at the bottom that says "Set Up is Starting Windows".

This problem will occur if you have an IDE Zip drive installed on the primary IDE channel as the master. downloading a flash for the board now(isnt counting my 512MB chips either) - Ill post my results... The machine originally had Windows ME, then I changed it to W2000. When setup finishes, you can reconnect the Zip drive.

Windows 2000 Setup issues Disk I/O error when started from the CD-ROM or Setup floppies? At every loading of win2000 I see this error disk I/O error: status=00008001 and after that the windows loads normaly but sometimes I have problem and the system crashes down without Register now! Fujitsu and Maxtor both have them available for download, the Ultimate Boot CD also has them both. When I booted the W2K CD-ROM (or Setup Floppies), I wasn't offered a choice to upgrade? Learn More. I serched the Microsoft Knowledge base with no success. After my install I jumped the problematic drive as a slave and have no problems with its functionality. I usually just give them to someone for just what I put into them.
I've been through a few zip drives.
