The POST error code 0175 refers to a CRC (cyclic redundancy check) reading from the EEPROM chip, that data is corrupted, most likely a faulty EEPROM chip. This is a motherboard problem and cannot be fixed except by a motherboard replacement. Will my hardrive (Hitachi Travelstar 20GB) be compatible with any T21 model? After initially calling IBM support, they recommended that I buy and replace the CMOS battery. But I turned it around and upgraded most of my stuff at the same time. There is some work involved and the cost mentioned below is well justified.

This is not simply guesswork on my part, I have thoroughly researched this subject, please do accept it as FACT. This could be cause by a near flat BIOS battery and it needs to be replaces.
